Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a railway vehicle enabling a quick stopping of the travel of the vehicle in an off chance where one end portion of a propeller shaft disengages itself, resulting in the shaft falling toward the ground.SOLUTION: A railway vehicle 1 includes a diesel engine 10, a transmission 12, a brake apparatus 14 an engine control apparatus 11, a transmission control apparatus 13, a brake control apparatus 15 and a vehicle body circuit 21 capable of outputting control instructions to these control apparatuses 11, 13, 15. The railway vehicle 1 comprises: a propeller shaft 40 of which both end portions 40a, 40b are connected to the transmission 12 and a speed reducer 33 of a carriage 30; and a fall prevention frame 50, mounted to a carriage frame 20a of the vehicle body 20, for preventing the propeller shaft 40 from touching the ground. The railway vehicle 1 also includes a fall detection device 60 for detecting that the propeller shaft 40 falls toward the ground, and a notification device 70 for notifying a driver of the falling of the propeller shaft 40 on the basis of the detection by the fall detection device 60. 【課題】万一推進軸の一方の端部が外れて推進軸が地面に向けて落下しても、車両の走行を速やかに停止させることができる鉄道車両を提供すること。【解決手段】鉄道車両1は、ディーゼルエンジン10と、変速機12と、ブレーキ装置14と、エンジン制御装置11と、変速機制御装置13と、ブレーキ制御装置15と、これら制御装置11,13,15に制御指令を出力可能な車体回路21とを備える。また、鉄道車両1は、変速機12と台車30の減速機33とに両端部40a,40bが連結された推進軸40と、車体20の台枠20aに取付けられて推進軸40が地面に接することを防止する落下防止枠50とを備える。そして、鉄道車両1には、推進軸40が地面に向けて落下したことを検知する落下検知装置60と、落下検知装置60の検知に基づいて運転士に推進軸40の落下を報知する報知装置70とを設ける。【選択図】 図3
