VEHICULAR STEERING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular steering apparatus, having a snap ring for regulating movement of a steering shaft in its axial direction and capable of easily and appropriately setting an extraction load of the snap ring required in accordance with a vehicle specification.SOLUTION: A snap ring 4 is inserted to a circular groove of a steering shaft 3 to regulate a movement of the steering shaft in its axial direction relative to a steering column 1. The snap ring includes a C-character-like portion 4c, and a set of extension portions 4a, 4b extending parallel to the axis of the steering shaft from dual free ends. Further, the extension parts are retained by a retention member (a circular member 5) at one engagement position of plural engagement positions set on the steering shaft in its axial direction to prevent the C-character-like portion from expanding within a given load limit. 【課題】ステアリングシャフトの軸方向移動を規制するスナップリングを備え、車両仕様に応じて要求されるスナップリングの抜け荷重を、容易且つ適切に設定し得るステアリング装置を提供する。【解決手段】ステアリングシャフト３の環状溝にスナップリング４が嵌合され、ステアリングコラム１に対するステアリングシャフトの軸方向移動が規制される。スナップリングは、Ｃ字状部４ｃと、両自由端からステアリングシャフトの軸に平行に延出する一対の延出部４ａ、４ｂを有し、これらの延出部を、保持部材（環状部材５）によって、ステアリングシャフトの軸方向に設定した複数の係止位置のうちの一つの係止位置で保持し、Ｃ字状部の拡開を所定の荷重限度内で阻止する。【選択図】図１
