Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft which can suppress permanent deformation when being inserted into an extremely winding blood vessel, and a guide wire using the shaft.SOLUTION: A shaft 10 is configured by being twisted in a longitudinal direction N and has a cross-section of a rectangular shape in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction N. Then, the cross-section has a recessed part 14 that is recessed in an arc. 【課題】極度に曲がりくねった血管に挿入した場合でも永久変形を抑制することが可能なシャフト及びそのシャフトを用いたガイドワイヤを提供する。【解決手段】シャフト１０は、長手方向Ｎに沿って捻回されてなり、長手方向Ｎに対して垂直な方向における断面が略矩形形状をなす。そして、その断面は、弧状に凹んだ凹部１４を有している。【選択図】図１
