PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change image forming conditions at the failure of a compressed air spraying device according to the type of a sheet to be conveyed.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a heating roller 202 that includes a heater 201, a pressure roller 203 that is brought into pressure contact with the heating roller 202, a sheet peeling device that sprays compressed air between the heating roller 202 and a sheet ejected from a nip part formed by the heating roller 202 and pressure roller 203 to peel the sheet from the heating roller 202, a state detection unit 307 for detecting failure of the sheet peeling device, and a medium sensor 111 that detects the types of sheets.
