PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network system in which a device to operate as a monitoring device is automatically selected without manpower.SOLUTION: The network system includes at least one relay device configuring a network. The relay device holds route information on the network. A management relay device of the relay devices which has accepted an input of information for identifying a monitored device external to the network refers to the route information and determines a relay device to operate as a monitoring device for monitoring a route to the monitored device.
