Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic compass that can be properly used even if placed in a dark place and even if viewed from a rear face.SOLUTION: A magnetic compass 1 comprises: housings 10, 11 including an opening 12 penetrating between a front face and a rear face; a magnetic needle 15; an azimuth display dial 14 arranged in the opening 12, composed of a transparent member, and pivotally supporting the magnetic needle 15 on the front face side so that th magnetic needle can rotate; and a light source 17 performing illumination from a side face of the azimuth display dial 14. This enables a user to see and recognize the azimuth not only from the front face, but also from the rear face in a dark place. 【課題】暗所において裏面から見ても適切に利用できる磁気コンパスを提供する。【解決手段】磁気コンパス１は、表面と裏面を貫通する開口部１２を有する筐体１０，１１と、磁針１５と、開口部１２に配置され、透明部材からなり、表面側に磁針１５を回動可能に軸支する方位表示文字盤１４と、方位表示文字盤１４の側面より照明する光源１７とを備える。これにより、暗所において表面からだけでなく裏面から見ながら方位を確認することができる。【選択図】図１
