Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool capable of achieving machining at high speed and with high accuracy by preventing distortion with respect to a fixing part due to a temperature change while reducing weight of an operation part.SOLUTION: A machine tool 1 includes: a base 2 and a column 3 which form a fixing part of the machine tool 1; and an operation part which comprises a saddle 3, a work table 4 and a machining head 6 and is capable of operating to machine a workpiece W. In the machine tool 1, the operation part is formed using a composite maternal 30 made of a first material 10 and a second material 20. The composite material 30 is formed to have specific gravity smaller than that of a material forming the fixing part. One of the first material 10 and the second material 20 is made to have a linear thermal expansion coefficient larger than that of the material forming the fixing part, and the other is made to have a linear thermal expansion coefficient smaller than that of the material forming the fixing part. 【課題】 稼働部の軽量化を図りつつも温度変化による固定部に対するひずみを防止して高速かつ高精度の加工を実現することができる工作機械を提供する。【解決手段】 機械の固定部をなすベース2およびコラム3と、サドル3、ワークテーブル4、および加工ヘッド6からなりワークWを加工するための稼動可能な稼動部と、を有する工作機械1において、稼動部は、第1の材料10および第2の材料20からなる複合材料30を用いて形成されるとともに、複合材料30は、比重が固定部を形成する材料の比重よりも小さくなるように形成され、かつ、第1の材料10および第2の材料20は、線熱膨張係数が固定部を形成する材料の線熱膨張係数よりも一方を大きく、他方を小さくすることを特徴とする。【選択図】 図1
