Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device which controls so as to expand an air bag early in a situation which needs protection of an occupant and so as not to expand the air bag in a situation which does not need expansion of the air bag by determining whether or not to expand the air bag with high reliability.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device includes: a satellite sensor which is arranged on a vehicle body side of a vehicle and detects satellite G information; a door acceleration sensor which is arranged on a door part of the vehicle and detects door G information when opening and closing the door part; and an air bag control part which activates a side air bag device when a unit satellite speed Vs corresponding to the satellite G information is larger than a predetermined threshold A. The air bag control part suppresses actuation of the side air bag device by a predetermined delay time T when a unit door speed Vd indicating movement of the door part in a closing direction obtained from the door G information is larger than a predetermined threshold B in a state that the vehicle stops or does not collide. 【課題】エアバッグを展開させるか否かを高い信頼性で判定することによって、乗員の保護が必要な状況で早期にエアバッグを展開させ、エアバッグの展開が不必要な状況ではエアバッグを展開させないように制御する乗員保護装置を提供する。【解決手段】車両の車体側に配置され、サテライトG情報を検出するサテライトセンサーと、車両のドア部に配置され、ドア部が開閉されるときのドアG情報を検出するドア加速度センサーと、サテライトG情報に応じた単位サテライト速度 Vsが予め定めた閾値Aよりも大きいときにサイドエアバッグ装置を起動させるエアバッグ制御部とを備え、エアバッグ制御部は、車両が停車している状態または衝突していない状態において、ドアG情報から得られるドア部の閉まる方向への運動を示す単位ドア速度 Vdが予め定めた閾値Bよりも大きい場合に、サイドエアバッグ装置の起動を予め定めた遅延時間Tだけ抑制する。【選択図】図2
