PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing device capable of precisely and easily extracting data to be compared from among a large amount of data generated in chronological order and a data processing method.SOLUTION: A data processing device 40 includes: a storage unit 44 for storing a large amount of input data generated in chronological order; and a pattern extraction unit 45 for extracting each of the template of an operation pattern to be a reference among data stored in the storage unit 44 and a comparison pattern similar to the template.
