Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protrusion detecting method and a protrusion detecting device capable of detecting protrusion of a rolled material with high accuracy and steadiness to reliably determine whether or not a surface quality of the rolled material is satisfactory, in manufacturing a bar steel with a roller.SOLUTION: The protrusion detecting method uses a rolling facility 1 having a roller 6 provided with grooved rolling rolls 7 having a recessed groove 9 and flange parts 8 projecting from both ends of the groove 9 to detect protrusion a rolled bar steel material W. When the rolled bar steel material W is fed out from an output side of the roller 6, an end shape of the rolled bar steel material W that corresponds to a part extending from the groove 9 of the grooved rolling rolls 7 to the flange parts 8 is measured, and the end shape of the rolled bar steel material W is approximated using a method of least squares according to f(x)=ax+bx+cx+d. The resultant value is applied to f"(x)=6ax+2b to derive a double differential value. If any sign is reversed in the double differential value, it is determined that the rolled bar steel material W is protruding. 【課題】圧延機で条鋼を製造するに際して、精度よく且つ定常的に圧延材の噛み出しを検出して、圧延材の表面品質の良否を確実に判定することができる噛み出し検出方法、及び噛み出し検出装置を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の噛み出し検出方法は、凹状の孔型9と孔型9の両端より突出したフランジ部8とを有する孔型圧延ロール7が配備されている圧延機6を有した圧延設備1において条鋼圧延材Wの噛み出しを検出する噛み出し検出方法であって、圧延機6出側から条鋼圧延材Wが送り出された際に孔型圧延ロール7の孔型9からフランジ部8に亘る部分に対応する条鋼圧延材Wの端部形状を測定し、その条鋼圧延材Wの端部形状を最小2乗法を用いてf(x)=ax3+bx2+cx+dで近似し、その結果をf"(x)=6ax+2bに適用させて2回微分値を導出し、2回微分値において正負反転する場所が存在する場合、条鋼圧延材Wが噛み出していると判定する。【選択図】図2
