PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an Al-Mn magnesium alloy having excellent mechanical strength, excellent heat resistance and a good balance of mechanical strength.SOLUTION: A magnesium alloy is prepared, the magnesium alloy comprising Al of 3.0 mass% or more and 7.0 mass% or less, Mn of 0.1 mass% or more and 0.6 mass% or less, Ca of 1.5 mass% or more and 2.5 mass% or less, Si of 0.2 mass% or more and 1.3 mass% or less, and Y of 0.4 mass% or more and 2.3 mass% or less, with the balance being Mg and inevitable impurities. 【課題】機械的強度に優れたＡｌ−Ｍｎ系マグネシウム合金において、さらに耐熱性に優れるとともに機械的強度のバランスが優れた合金を得る。【解決手段】Ａｌを３．０質量％以上７．０質量％以下、Ｍｎを０．１質量％以上０．６質量％以下、Ｃａを１．５質量％以上２．５質量％以下、Ｓｉを０．２質量％以上１．３質量％以下、Ｙを０．４質量％以上２．３質量％以下含有し、残余がＭｇと不可避不純物であるマグネシウム合金を調製する。【選択図】なし
