Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sugar derivative, as a plasticizer for PVA resin, allowing high flexibility-enhancing effect of PVA resin and less migration from PVA resin and suppressing reduction in temporal physical properties of PVA resin.SOLUTION: A sugar derivative is represented by the following general formula (1): R{-(A-O-)R}(1), where Rrepresents a sugar, A represents an alkylene group binding to a hydroxyl group of the sugar, Rrepresents an arylalkyl group, m represents the number of hydroxyl groups which the sugar has, and n is the addition number of polyoxyalkylene groups per a hydroxyl group and represents a number ranging 0.1 to 10.0.
