Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work roll that can be used for extended periods of time without damaging the surface quality of the metal or metal alloy sheet, and has improved resistance to wear and corrosion.SOLUTION: A work roll thermally spray coated on an outer peripheral surface of a cylindrical structure has a sprayed coating which comprises: from about 65 to about 95 weight percent of one or more Group VI metal carbides; metallic binders containing Co, Cr, Mn, Fe, and Ni; and a CrOlayer existing on at least a part of a splat boundary protecting the metal carbides and metallic binders. Group VI metal carbides can be represented by a formula MxC, and the MxC phase is composed of MC, M2C, M6C, M9C, and M12C. (M is one or more of Cr, Co, Mo, and W; x is an integer of 1 to 12.)
