MANUFACTURING METHOD OF MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower friction factor of a lubrication layer and raise covering rate of a surface of a protection layer by the lubrication layer, in a manufacturing method of a magnetic recording medium.SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of the magnetic recording medium, a magnetic recording layer, a protection layer, and the lubrication layer are formed on a laminate in this order. The lubrication layer is formed by coating a first lubricant on the laminate, on which the protection layer has been formed, by means of a vapor-phase lubrication deposition method without bringing the laminate into contact with the atmosphere, and coating the laminate with a second lubricant which is dissolved in an organic solvent. A molecular weight of a compound contained in the first lubricant is larger than a compound contained in the second lubricant, and a polarity of the compound contained in the first lubricant is lower than that of the compound contained in the second lubricant.
