HOLDING SEAL MATERIAL, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING HOLDING SEAL MATERIAL, AND EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding seal material used in an exhaust gas purification device capable of uniformly heating an exhaust gas treatment body.SOLUTION: In a holding seal material used in an exhaust gas purification device including an exhaust gas treatment body configured by collecting a plurality of columnar exhaust gas treatment body units having electric conductivity, the holding seal material disposed around the exhaust gas treatment body, and a casing for accommodating the exhaust gas treatment body, the holding seal material is composed of a mat of the rectangular shape in a plane view, including inorganic fiber and having a first main face and a second main face. The holding seal material is configured so as to be continuously disposed among the exhaust gas treatment body units configuring the exhaust gas treatment body, by one sheet, and the first main face and/or the second main face of the holding seal material are provided with at least a pair of electrodes for energizing the exhaust gas treatment body units in the longitudinal direction of the holding seal material. The electrodes are configured so as not to be short-circuited by contact with themselves when the holding seal material is continuously disposed among the exhaust gas treatment body units.
