PRINTING METHOD AND PRINTING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method and a printing apparatus capable of suppressing an increase in printing necessary time by performing processing different from printing of printing data, such as detection of a defective nozzle, and recovery processing of the defective nozzle.SOLUTION: A control part 50 of a printer 1 includes an input/output part 51, a conveyance control part 53, a printing control part 54, a nozzle maintenance part 55 and a storage part 56. In a label paper 2 which is a recording medium used for the printer 1, a first printing region 2B which is a photograph printing region, and a second printing region 2C provided in a margin part surrounding the first printing region 2B are formed. The printing control part 54 performs first printing processing for printing a photograph 71 in the first printing region 2B of the label paper 2 and second printing processing for printing a character string 72 indicating attribute information of the photograph 71 and a defective nozzle detection pattern 73 in the margin part of the second printing region 2C.
