Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extracting organic acid in a short time and with high extraction efficiency.SOLUTION: A method for producing organic acid comprises (1) a step of producing an organic acid by fermentation to obtain a crude organic acid-containing solution of pH 1-5; and (2) a step of obtaining an extract from the crude organic acid-containing solution obtained in step (1) using an organic extraction medium, wherein the step (2) comprises at least one emulsion extraction step, and the organic extraction solvent contains a diester compound of 10-30 carbons. The diester compound is at least one selected from the group consisting of bis(2-ethylhexyl) fumarate, bis(2-ethylhexyl) sebacate, bis(2-ethylhexyl) itaconate, bis(2-ethylhexyl) azelate and bis(2-ethylhexyl) maleate. Further, the organic extraction medium contains trialkyl amine of 15-39 carbons.
