Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide virus inhibitors.SOLUTION: There are provided a pyrrolo[2,3-c]pyridine or a pyrrolo[3,2-c]pyridine compound having the general formula (A), where dot line, X, Y and Rto Rare as defined in the specification. The compounds are useful for prevention or treatment for virus infections. The invention further relates to the use of a compound of the formula (A) in prevention or treatment of virus infections. These inhibit HCV, and are considered to be active on BVDV, HCV and Coxsackie virus infections. The compounds are useful in manufacturing pharmaceutical agent for treating virus or other retrovirus or lentivirus infections.
