Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppress bleeding of a character to be formed on a recording medium when using an ultraviolet curable water-soluble ink.SOLUTION: An infrared laser 70 applied toward a flat end portion 54F is to be applied to an image, such as a character, formed on a sheet member P by a discharge of ink drops from a recording head 62K. A black color material (pigment) contained in the ink is heated by infrared irradiation, and the water content of an ultraviolet curable water-soluble ink is evaporated from the image. This suppresses bleeding of the character (text) or the like formed in black.
