INTERMEDIATE TRANSFER BELT, AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer belt having secondary transferability irrespective of the type and surface shape of a recording medium.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: an image carrier; developing means for developing a latent image formed on the image carrier with toner; an intermediate transfer belt to which a toner image developed by the developing means is primary-transferred; and transfer means for secondary-transfers the toner image carried on the intermediate transfer belt to a recording medium. The intermediate transfer belt of the image forming apparatus includes at least a base layer 11 and a surface layer 12 from the inside; the surface layer includes an uneven shape formed by partially embedding spherical fine particles 13 subjected to surface treatment with a surface treatment agent in the surface of the surface layer, or an uneven shape formed by partially embedding the spherical fine particles 13 in the surface of the surface layer 12 before the surface treatment with the surface treatment agent; and the surface treatment agent has a work function selected to be smaller than a work function of the spherical fine particles 13.
