Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerant compressor capable of preventing a leaking refrigerant from flowing in the direction of the electric motor even when the refrigerant having combustibility leaks from a compression mechanism portion and avoiding occurrence of combustion at the inside of an electric motor.SOLUTION: A refrigerant compressor includes: an electric motor portion 20 having a driving shaft 25 which penetrates an electric motor casing 20 and whose one end is projected, and producing motive power; a compressing mechanism portion 10 disposed separately from the electric motor portion 20, having a driven shaft 14 which penetrates a compressor casing 11 and whose one end is projected, and compressing a refrigerant; and a motive power transmission mechanism portion 30 connected to the end portion of the driving shaft 25 and the end portion of the driven shaft 14, and transmitting the motive power produced in the electric motor portion 20 from the driving shaft 25 to the driven shaft 14. The electric motor portion 20 is disposed at a position higher than the compressing mechanism portion 10 in a state of being placed on a placing face 200.
