HYDROGEN GENERATOR AND HYDROGEN GENERATION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generator capable of inducing an efficient oxidation-reduction reaction of water without requiring an external apparatus.SOLUTION: A hydrogen generator 1 comprises: a substrate 9 including a photocatalyst material; a metallic body 11 positioned while being separated in multiple regions along one surface 9a of the substrate 9; and a hydrogen generation catalyst 13 positioned on the surface 9b of the substrate 9 opposite the one surface 9a thereof. Such a hydrogen generator 1 is capable of efficiently executing the photoelectric decomposition of water within the wavelength band of plasmon resonance determined by the microstructure of the metallic body 11 and of simultaneously prompting the hydrogen generation catalyst 13 to induce an efficient reducing reaction of water.
