Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact variable delay circuit capable of suppressing increase in a group delay and degradation of a waveform associated with delay amount control and to provide an optical transmitter provided with the variable delay circuit.SOLUTION: A variable delay circuit 100 includes: a transmission line 110; a plurality of variable capacitance elements 120 one ends of which are coupled to the transmission line 110 and the other ends of which are connected to the ground; control means 130 that controls capacitance values of the variable capacitance elements 120; and at least one termination circuit 140 coupled in series to the variable capacitance elements 120.
