ENGINE STARTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starting device equipped with easily-assembled simple mag switch, which does not require a solenoid coil protection member newly mounted.SOLUTION: An engine starting device includes an electric motor, an output shaft rotated by rotation of the electric motor, a pinion moving body fitted onto a helical spline formed on the output shaft and axially movable, a solenoid coil generating magnetic force when energized, an electromagnetic solenoid for moving the pinion moving body toward a ring gear by means of attractive force of the solenoid coil, a contact switch coil generating magnetic force when energized, and a contact switch opening and closing energization contacts of the electric motor by means of attractive force of the contact switch coil. The electromagnetic solenoid and the contact switch are formed integrally in series in the axial direction, and an inner diameter of the contact switch coil is larger than an inner diameter of the solenoid coil.
