PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for efficiently applying carbon dioxide gas to a leaf part of a cultivated crop in the application of carbon dioxide gas to the crop cultivated in a greenhouse, etc.SOLUTION: In a method, a porous irrigation tube is used as a carbon dioxide gas application tube; a device is installed at a position where carbon dioxide gas can be applied to a cultivated crop by covering the upper part of the carbon dioxide gas application tube with a cover so that the carbon dioxide gas can be applied only to a lower direction or a cross direction; carbon dioxide gas application can be controlled by opening/closing an electromagnetic valve; a period of application time can be reduced with a timer and extra application can be suppressed in a cloudy or rainy weather or from the evening to the night; a carbon dioxide gas concentration of a leaf part of a cultivated crop can be controlled with a carbon dioxide gas concentration meter; the carbon dioxide gas is intensively applied to the leaf part of the cultivated crop by performing all the controls separately or combining them; and the extra carbon dioxide gas that is not used for photosynthesis is suppressed.
