Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with improved visibility.SOLUTION: An image display device includes: (1) a white light source having a continuous emission spectrum; (2) an image display cell; (3) a polarizer placed closer to a viewing side than the image display cell; and (4) two sheets of base films placed closer to the viewing side than the polarizer. The two sheets of base films are oriented films having 3000 to 150000 nm retardation. Orientation principal axes of the two sheets of scattering preventing films are approximately parallel to each other, or the two sheets of base films have different retardations from each other, and the difference is 1800 nm or higher.
