Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type optical spatial modulation device that can facilitate a configuration of a pixel section including a pixel drive circuit having the same dimension in a longitudinal direction and in a lateral direction and a reflection pixel electrode different in dimension in the longitudinal direction and in the lateral direction.SOLUTION: A pixel section 11 is given to a reflection pixel electrode 12a or 12b and a common electrode 30, and optically modulates read light in accordance with a difference in voltages to be applied to both ends of a liquid crystal 29. The pixel section 11 includes a pixel drive circuit 13 that supplies a pixel drive voltage in accordance with a pixel signal to the reflection pixel electrode 12a or 12b. The pixel drive circuit 13 is arranged in a matrix in a longitudinal direction and in a lateral direction. The number of arrangement rows in the longitudinal direction of the pixel drive circuit 13 or the number of arrangement columns in the lateral direction thereof is different from the number of arrangement rows in the longitudinal direction of the reflection pixel electrodes 12a and 12b corresponding to each of pixel drive circuit 13 or the number of arrangement columns in the lateral direction thereof.
