MAP GENERATION DEVICE AND DISPLAY METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map generation device that implements a graphic editing process at high speed in a parallel process, and to provide a display method that causes a display device to display the generated map.SOLUTION: The map generation device comprises: a graphic editing process section that starts up a plurality of graphic editing processes; a parallel process range definition section that defines an area of a plurality of hierarchies; a parallel process management section that designates, as a process range, the defined process range with respect to the graphic editing process in order from an area of the undermost layer, stands by until a process of an area of a lower hierarchy is all finished, and then, starts allocating an area process of an upper hierarchy; and a process feature extraction section that has an inclusion determination function of extracting only a graphic contained in the process range allocated by the parallel process management section and having an editing process not completed from electronic map data. The graphic editing process includes an editing function required in performing a map generation, an inspection function of a graphic after being edited and a modification function which are required for the graphic editing.
