Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and navigation method guiding the effect that a vehicle unable to use an ETC can return to a main line without passing an ETC gate at a point when the vehicle enters an exclusive road for use of a smart IC at a time of inadvertently entering the exclusive road for use of the smart IC.SOLUTION: The navigation device comprises: an entry determination section that determines whether a vehicle enters an exclusive road for use of a smart IC; an ETC determination section that determines whether the vehicle is in a state impossible to pass an ETC gate; a route search section that, when it is determined by the entry determination section that the vehicle enters the exclusive road and it is determined by the ETC determination section that the vehicle is in the state impossible to pass the ETC gate, searches for an avoidance route passing an avoidance road avoiding an entry to the ETC gate on the basis of map data; and a display section that displays the avoidance route searched for by the route search section.
