Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casting cup assembly for forming ophthalmic devices such as contact lenses, the casting cup assembly comprising a frontcurve mold and a basecurve mold including rings that circumscribe corresponding concave and convex mold surfaces.SOLUTION: When a casting cup is assembled, rings align with a concave mold surface and a convex mold surface and minimize de-centering and tilting to thereby reduce edge defects, thus increasing the area of the cup assembly available to operate a prying apparatus and increasing an additional area to prevent an overflow monomer from spilling from the cup assembly and contaminating the prying apparatus.
