PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance convenience of a user by reducing dubbing failure of content, occurring when there are a transmitter (source) and a receiver (sink) in different home networks.SOLUTION: A transmitter includes an instruction reception unit which receives an instruction for transmitting a recorded content to a receiver connected over a network. The transmitter also includes a network inspection unit which inspects whether or not the receiver is in a home network to which its own apparatus belongs, by using the connection information of the receiver to the network. The transmitter further includes a request command output unit which outputs a first request command toward the receiver when the receiver is in the home network, otherwise outputs a second request command toward the receiver.
