IMAGE PICKUP DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease eye fatigue of a viewer when a planar image is displayed in an overlapping manner during displaying a stereoscopic vision.SOLUTION: An image pickup device comprises: an image pickup element 105 including a plurality of photodiodes with respect to each microlens; and a PD selection synthesis part 106 for selecting a photodiode depending on an operation mode, creating left-eye image data and right-eye image data, and outputting the resultant to a video signal processing part 107. Processed data is temporarily stored in a frame memory 108 and subsequently sent to a display part 115 via a display control part 114. The image pickup device comprises: an LV display control part 151 for performing control of switching a selection system of the photodiodes to output a live view image in two-dimensional display to a display part 115 when displaying a planar image in an overlapping manner during live view display of a stereoscopic vision.
