Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated paper for offset printing good in white paper quality such as whiteness degree, opacity and the like while having low square meter basis weight, and good in surface quality.SOLUTION: There is provided a coated paper for offset printing having a coated layer consisting of a pigment and an adhesive agent on a double side of a base paper, and having a basis weight of 60 g/mor less, a coated paper opacity of 86% or more and a coated paper whiteness degree of 78% or more. In the coated paper for offset printing, a kaolin clay as essential component of the pigment is 20 to 65 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the pigment, and the aspect ratio (thickness:diameter) is 1:10 to 1:45, the coated paper whiteness degree is higher than the base paper whiteness degree and its difference is 7 to 15%, and an absorption index of the base paper is 18 cm/g or more.
