Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which it is difficult to observe a state of a recording head nozzle surface and to clean the nozzle surface.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a recording head 24 having a nozzle which dispenses droplets; a maintenance unit 9 having a cap 91 that protects a nozzle surface of the recording head 24; and a front cover 101 for opening an inside of a device body. The apparatus has means for performing control so as to put the nozzle surface of the recording head 24 in a capping state with the cap 91 when the front cover 101 is opened and control so as to expose the nozzle surface of the recording head 24 to the opened side by the front cover 101 when it is instructed to operate a specific button of an operation part 514.
