Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose fiber having high moisture-absorbing/releasing capacity and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The moisture-absorbing/releasing cellulose fiber of the present invention is obtained by providing a type II cellulose exhibiting twin peaks at 18 to 25 deg (2Θ) of an X-ray diffractogram by chemically coupling a carboxylate with a natural cellulose fiber. The manufacturing method of the moisture-absorbing/releasing cellulose fiber of the present invention includes a step of irradiating a natural cellulose fiber with electron beams, a step of contacting and chemically coupling, with the fiber, a compound including a carboxylate group, and a step of mercerizing using an aqueous alkali solution.
