Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover cellulose ester from material of multi-layer structure that includes cellulose ester layer and hard coat, efficiently, effectively and with high yield.SOLUTION: The cellulose ester is recovered as a cellulose ester material 34 from a surplus material 120 using recovery equipment 90. The surplus material 120 includes hard coat and cellulose ester layer. The surplus material 120 is immersed into an aqueous alkali solution and is contacted with it and thereby the decomposition and dissolution of hard coat as well as the saponification of the periphery of the cellulose ester layer are carried out. A crude saponified material 136 thus obtained is washed with water to yield a saponified material 138. The saponified material 138 is immersed into a cellulase aqueous solution and is contacted with it to decompose the saponified layer and a crude cellulose ester material 28 thus obtained is washed with water. After washing, it is dried to yield a cellulose ester material 34.
