PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine capable of retaining a game ball falling on a game area, cancelling the retention of the game ball at a player's own discretion, and guiding the game ball to a second operation-start hole.SOLUTION: When special symbol determination means 54 determines to execute a special game on condition that a game ball G enters a second operation-start hole 11a or a second special operation-start hole 12, special game execution means 56 executes a second special game more advantageous than a first special game at a higher ratio than a case where it is determined to execute a special game on condition that the game ball B enters a first operation-hole 10. Retention means 31 retains the game ball B falling on the game area 4a at a prescribed retention part 30. Retention cancellation means 32 cancels the retention of the game ball B by the retention means 31, via a player's optional operation of a retention cancellation button SW7, and causes a ball passage 4b to release the game ball B, the retention of which has been cancelled, the ball passage 4b guiding the game ball from the retention part 30 to the second special operation-start hole 12.
