Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy having high strength and excellent in brightness after an anodic oxidation treatment, and to provide an aluminum alloy wire.SOLUTION: There is provided an aluminum alloy containing Mg of 4.5 mass% to 12.0 mass% and the balance Al with inevitable impurities and has the content of hydrogen of 10 ml/100 g or less. A crystallized and precipitated product having a diameter of 10 μm or more on a cross section of the aluminum alloy is 3/mmor less. The aluminum alloy is excellent in strength because it contains a lot of Mg, and can prevent degradation of appearance due to a blowhole because the content of hydrogen is in a specific range. Also the aluminum alloy is excellent in brightness after an anodic oxidation treatment because there is little coarse crystallized and precipitated products.
