PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for reducing distortion of a projection image in X-ray photography.SOLUTION: A medical X-ray photographing apparatus 1 includes: a rotating arm 30 which supports an X-ray generator 10a and an X-ray detector 21 that face each other with a head part M10 in between; and a rotating part 201 which rotates the rotating arm 30 about a rotating shaft 31 relative to the head part M10. In addition, the medical X-ray photographing apparatus 1 includes: an X-ray detector driving unit 45 including a detector tilting mechanism which tilts the X-ray detector 21 by using a direction in parallel with an x-axis direction perpendicular to the rotating shaft 31 as a rotating axis; a photography region assigning unit 610 for setting a photography region; and a body control unit 60 for controlling the rotating part 201 and the X-ray detector driving unit 45 in accordance with the photography region set by the photography region assigning unit 610.
