METHOD OF RESUMING PORTABLE COMPUTER FROM POWER SAVING STATE, POWER STATE CONTROL METHOD AND PORTABLE COMPUTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that causes a portable computer to be resumed from a power saving state.SOLUTION: An HDD 23 comprises a power-up in standby function (PUIS). A hibernation area of a flash memory 19 stores HDD data read out from a magnetic disc 24. A firmware ROM 25 stores a UEFI in a code area and stores the HDD data in a data area. The PUIS is set to Enable and while the PUIS transitions to a power saving state, when a power source is started up by a wake event, the UEFI reads out the HDD data from the firmware ROM. The UEFI does not spin up an HDD at the same time of starting up the electric power upon resuming to thereby prevent damage of the HDD, and reads out the HDD data in a short time and thereby enables a POST time to be shortened.
