PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control, in real time, color shift on a rear face of a recording sheet occurring due to contraction after printing on a front face of the recording sheet.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: color shift amount calculation means for calculating a color shift amount from a fist test pattern formed on the outside of an image forming area; correction information acquisition means for acquiring correction information for correcting an image on a rear face on the basis of contraction information acquired in advance on a recording sheet after printing on a front face during double-sided printing; and image data correction means for correcting the image on the rear face on the basis of the color shift amount calculated by the color shift amount calculation means and the correction information acquired by the correction information acquisition means.
