Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing a cloth for an adhesive tape capable of bestowing, onto an adhesive tape, a specified tensile strength and a favorable hand tearability.SOLUTION: In the provided method for processing a cloth for an adhesive tape consisting of a woven fabric (hereafter called the "substrate"), attempts are made, through a work schedule including 1) a thermal drawing step D of drawing, by setting a roll temperature confined to a range equal to or higher than 80°C and equal to or lower than a temperature inducing thermal modification of woven fabric fibers, the substrate while roll-heating and nipping the same and 2) a heat setting step E, to amplify the tensile strength of the substrate along the warp direction thereof and to attenuate the tear strength along the widthwise direction thereof.
