Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated wire capable of accelerating reduction in production unit cost while maintaining various characteristics such as heat resistance and a method for producing the same and to provide a silane-crosslinkable resin composition used for the production method.SOLUTION: There is provided a silane-crosslinkable resin composition for producing a sheath layer of an insulated wire, which comprises: a silane-crosslinkable resin obtained by grafting a silane compound onto at least one of polyethylene and an ethylene-polar monomer copolymer; a non silane-crosslinkable resin composed of at least one of polyethylene and an ethylene-polar monomer copolymer; and a metal hydroxide. The content of the non silane-crosslinkable resin is 40 pts.mass or more and 90 pts.mass or less based on the total of 100 pts.mass of the silane-crosslinkable resin and the non silane-crosslinkable resin. The silane-crosslinkable resin preferably is an ultra-low density polyethylene to which a silane compound is grafted. The non silane-crosslinkable resin preferably is an ethylene-ethylacrylate copolymer.
