PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a magnetic drive type base material provided with a magnetic pillar utilizing an elastic body does not have an enough tilting angle of the magnetic pillar and only a part of a cell placed on a device for three-dimensional observation of a cell can be observed in the device.SOLUTION: A base material for sample observation comprises a base part provided with a contact part, a connection part in which at least one of a tilt direction and a tilt angle is deviated by the external magnetic field and which is brought into point or line contact with and connected to the contact part, and a placing part, provided at a tip part of the connection part, for placing an observation sample thereon.
