PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mailbox including a flap closing mechanism capable of closing and releasing a throwing port for refusing to throw leaflets or the like into a mailbox of an empty house for a long time, an inhabited dwelling house, or the like.SOLUTION: A mailbox is provided with a mailbox body; a throwing port formed on the front face part of the mailbox body; a throwing port flap whose base end part is pivotally disposed on the throwing port in an openable/closable manner; and a take-out port. The mailbox includes throwing port flap locking means capable of fixing and releasing the free end part of the throwing port flap to/from a closing position.
