BASE ISOLATION METHOD FOR EXISTING BUILDING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely achieve base isolation of an existing building while curbing reduction in an effective space on a floor where a base isolation device is installed.SOLUTION: A base isolation method for an existing building, which installs a base isolation device on a column of a predetermined floor of an existing building, comprises the processes: to install a temporary support member on the predetermined floor and to transfer a load of the existing building from the column to the temporary support member; to install a horizontal direction regulation member which regulates displacement in a horizontal direction between an upper structure and a lower structure of the existing building but allows the displacement in a vertical direction; to cut the column and a wall on the predetermined floor to separate the existing building into the upper structure and the lower structure; to create a space at a cut section of the column by upwardly moving a position of the upper structure in the vertical direction with respect to the lower structure through upward extension of the temporary support member; to install the base isolation device in the space at the cut section of the column; and to remove the temporary support member and the horizontal direction regulation member after transferring the load of the existing building from the temporary support member to the base isolation device.
