ROCK DRILLING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING ORIENTATION OF FEED BEAM OF THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the orientation of a drilling boom and a feed beam of a rock drilling apparatus.SOLUTION: The rock drilling apparatus includes: a carrier 1; a drilling boom 2 attached at a first end to the carrier 1; a feed beam 7 attached turnably to a second end of the drilling boom 2; a drilling unit 5 attached movably along the feed beam 7; a support 8 attached to the feed beam 7 and for supporting the drilling boom 3 on the ground; and a mechanism for controlling the orientation of the drilling boom 3 and the feed beam 7. The mechanism is configured, on the basis of parameters affecting the orientation, to regulate the orientation change caused by driving the support onto the ground. The rock drilling apparatus is configured to automatically adjust the orientation of the drilling boom 2 and the feed beam 7 before applying drilling force to compensate for the orientation change caused by supporting the drilling boom on the ground.
