PORTABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND DISPLAY METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device and a display method which allows a user to perform an intuitive operation, and to scroll display on a display part with a less tiring operation.SOLUTION: An portable electronic device comprises a display part 3, and a touch panel 2 arranged overlapping the display part 3 and capable of detecting a distance to an indication body. In the case where the indication body is brought to a space above the touch panel 2, when the indication body is above a prescribed area, and the distance between the indication body and the touch panel 2 is a prescribed distance or less but more than 0, the portable electronic device moves the display on the display part 3 in a prescribed direction. Thereby, the display on the display part 3 can be moved (i.e. scrolled) with an intuitive operation. In addition, the scrolling is continued while the indication body is placed above the prescribed area of the touch panel 2, thereby realizing scrolling with a less tiring operation.
