Zusammenfassung:	PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate diol which provides a polycarbonate-based polyurethane having preferable hardness and excellent chemical resistance and oleic acid resistance.SOLUTION: The polycarbonate diol comprises, as part of its structure, a structural unit (A) derived from at least one diol selected from isosorbide, isomannide and isoidide and a structural unit (B) derived from a compound represented by the general formula (1) defined by HOCH-CRR-CRR-CHOH, and has a number-average molecular weight by the NMR method in the range from 250 to 5,000 inclusive. The number of terminals of a molecular chain being alkyloxy or aryloxy groups is 5% or less of the total number of terminals of the molecular chain.
