Zusammenfassung:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse lighting LED illumination device capable of reducing damage due to illumination on an exhibit by sufficiently exhibiting Broca-Sulzer effect even in coexistence with an existing fluorescent lamp or the like at an exhibition site of the exhibit in an art museum or the like.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a pulse lighting LED illumination device 100 which includes an LED 3 as a light source and in which the LED 3 emits light in a pulse-like manner. This illumination device includes: an external light detection part 4 which directly or indirectly detects brightness periodically changed by external light except light emitted from the LED 3 out of the light reflected by the exhibit or passing through the exhibit; and an effect exhibiting part 5 in which, based on change of brightness of the external light detected by the external light detection part 4, the LED 3 is made to emit light in the pulse-like manner, and the light superposed on the external light is made to be the light which exhibits the Broca-Sulzer effect.
